Palin’s husband and daughter may testify at trial

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A man charged as a 20-year-old University of Tennessee student with identity theft and three other felonies for hacking Sarah Palin’s e-mail account listened to a former roommate testify about being surprised that it was so easy.

David Kernell’s former roommate told federal jurors in Knoxville that he had thought the e-mail provider’s security measures “were better than they were.”

Kernell’s attorney told jurors on the first day of the trial that his client had no criminal intent and the e-mail intrusion was a prank.

Testimony is continuing and Palin has been subpoenaed. Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Weddle said in court Tuesday that Palin’s husband, Todd Palin, and their daughter, Bristol, are also potential witnesses.
