North Shore business owners will stay open late for an event, called Night Out on the North Shore, following the ribbon cutting at the newly-reopened Walnut Street Bridge today at 5 p.m.
The evening’s festivities, which are coordinated by the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, will go on until at least 8 p.m., with shops staying open later than usual. Ten percent of all sales proceeds will benefit the Northside Neighborhood house, which provides needy area families with educational assistance.
The Walnut Street Bridge was closed last December for repairs to the asphalt at the north end of the span, and an official grand reopening of the bridge will take place after the repair project is completed in July.
