CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The Bradley County mayor couldn’t shut down local bus service in Cleveland even if he or she wanted to, a SETHRA executive says.
“We would never cut out service in Cleveland. There’s just no way that could happen,” said Mary Lynn Hickey, with the local office of the Southeast Tennessee Human Resources Agency.
But such a campaign rumor is afoot, state Rep. Eric Watson, R-Cleveland, said in a news release Thursday.
Rep. Watson said senior citizens have been calling his office over worries “that if certain candidates for office are elected then the valuable asset of SETHRA would discontinue operations.”
But he said no local elected official has any control over SETHRA.
