Tyner’s rushing game proved to be ahead of Bradley Central’s passing game early in the 2010 high school football season.
Playing the third of six 20-minute periods on the second night of the city jamboree at Finley Stadium, the Rams defeated the Bears 6-0 and did not give up a yard in the process.
Bradley Central’s six offensive plays Saturday were all incomplete passes by Brice Copeland.
“I thought our defensive ends played extremely well,” Tyner coach Wayne Turner said of Kevin Dossett and Tevin Cowan. “They stayed in their lanes and contained the outside. I thought the secondary played well. Scrimmaging Kingston last night helped them. We didn’t make the same mistakes back there tonight like we did against them.”
As for the Rams’ offense, they had possession first and marched 70 yards for a touchdown. Travis Jones completed one pass on the drive for no gain. Dossett covered the final 4 yards around left tackle.
