Dalton leaders plan to cut the city’s millage rate for a third year in a row, according to City Administrator Ty Ross.
City aldermen will take up the issue at their Sept. 7 meeting.
This year the mayor and council will vote on a 3.3 percent reduction in the millage rate. The city won’t cut staff or pay or force furloughs to make the cuts, Ross said.
“While a reduction in force did occur two years ago, the city’s continued dedication to fiscal restraint has enabled it to continue to reduce the tax burden without any general reductions in pay or benefits and/or furloughs,” Ross said in a statement e-mailed to local media.
The City Council will hold its September meeting at the Emery Center at 110 W. Emery St.
