Ringgold’s Down Home Christmas slated for Dec. 3 is meant to spark the city’s Christmas spirit early.
“It just brings the community together,” said Ringgold marketing coordinator Meaghan Dant. “It would be great if guests would come to the city for something like this, but it’s mainly a communty affair. It brings people downtown that haven’t really come in awhile.”
The event, in its 15th year, will include a 6 p.m. float parade with marching bands from local schools, and downtown merchants will stay open late with food and bargains.
Inside the Historic Ringgold Depot the community may browse winning entries from the Ross Andrews coloring contest, get pictures taken with Santa, cheer student performers from local schools and dance studios, and munch on refreshments.
For more information call the city of Ringgold at (706) 935-3061.
The Down Home Christmas parade begins at 6 p.m. and travels south on Highway 41 from Ringgold High School to the Depot. Float contest winners will be announced during the parade.
