CHICKAMAUGA, Ga. — Police are searching for an inmate who left his work detail at the Walker County Schools Science and Technology Center at about 10:50 a.m., the Walker County Sheriff’s Office said.
The inmate, 29-year-old David Eugene Hart, was picked up by his wife, 21-year-old Jessica Nicole Hart, near the school at 409 Pond Spring Road, police said. The inmate was serving a 20 year sentence for a drug conviction, according to a news release.
Jessica Hart was driving a silver 2007 Mercedes ML 320 SUV bearing Georgia tag #AVR 7965, the sheriff’s office said.
Police say no students were present at the school, which is undergoing renovations.
