Henry slaying susepct turns self in to Marion authorities

A man has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in the Friday deaths of a Buchanan, Tenn., couple after turning himself in to Marion County authorities.

Edward Michael Taylor, either 30 or 31, contacted the Marion County Sheriff Department from a pay phone about 11 a.m. Sunday, according to a dispatcher. From there, he told authorities that he was wanted, but not what for.

Marion authorities took him into custody on charges from Cannon County, the dispatcher said.

But Taylor also matched the description released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation of a person connected with the deaths of 76-year-old Barbara Jean Walker and 80-year-old Guy Kenneth Walker.

The couple was found dead in their home Friday. They lived in Buchanan, which is about 14 miles from Paris, Tenn., in Henry County.

Taylor was only with Marion County police for about an hour before Henry County authorities arrived in a single-engine plane and took him, the dispatcher said.

The dispatcher wasn’t aware of what Taylor told investigators, but she confirmed that he has been charged with two counts of first degree murder.
