Molding minds not same as fixing hair

I spent 32 years in education. Give me a break! I can’t believe we have a school board member who believes fixing a woman’s hair can be compared to molding the minds of children. Thurman sounds like she is coming from outer space. Please, Rhonda!

It doesn’t take a master’s degree in several disciplines to fix hair. Most of the hair dressers I know realize this and would never make such a comparison. Teachers spend years learning their profession. And they spend hours after school making lesson plans. Hair dressers don’t have parents calling to complain about a child’s grade or why they were disciplined.

For Rhonda Thurman to be against teachers having a deserved bonus is ludicrous. It shows exactly how much she understands the hard work of educating our children and how we should show our appreciation to those who work this hard to help our children grow.

The motion was tabled. Kudos to Jeffery Wilson who understands the difference between the “value of people and property.” When it comes up again, we are going to see which board members really support teachers. Knowledgeable people will be watching!
