Chris Early burst through the blue curtains Monday night inside McKenzie Arena and tried to bear hug University of Tennessee at Chattanooga basketball coach John Shulman, who scooted away from Early’s surprise attempt.
It was the first time Shulman had seen Early since immediately after the Reinhardt game last Tuesday.
The Mocs held a walk-through and shoot-around on Sunday night, then a noncontact practice Monday morning before a traditional practice that began after 8 p.m.
Early missed the first two postbreak sessions due to weather delays impacting his Sunday flight out of West Virginia. He arrived on campus in time for Monday evening’s session.
“The No. 1 priority, and I’m not going to lie, was getting everybody back safely through this weather,” Shulman said. “We worried about getting them back, and they’re all back. Then we worried about getting them back into basketball mode.”
