Christmas is over, but isn’t it wonderful that the real, loving spirit of Christmas — “Peace on Earth, good will to men …” — surely lingers on in many lives, and will continue to be expressed in countless ways in our troubled world.
We all are warmed by the expressions of good will, generosity and affection among families and friends — and to total strangers. Many of us have been encouraged by the true spirit of the Christmas season.
Now, after Christmas, don’t we always wonder why we cannot extend the warmth of the season as a year-round attitude, long after the presents and pageantry are past?
The birth of Jesus Christ, the Babe at Bethlehem, was followed by a brief earthly life of perfect example, which ended with the tragic Crucifixion. But it all still lives in millions of lives and expressions in our world.
What a “Happy New Year” we may look forward to if the love we shared at Christmas will permeate our lives, our world and our future.
