United Way: $600,000 to go!

Chattanooga’s generous people always do a magnificent job in addressing a wide variety of significant human and community service needs through our annual United Way fund campaign.

United Way is an efficient, reliable way for citizens to volunteer their means to finance many good organizations through just one financial drive. It helps our people with welfare and health needs in a way that assures the most good from every dollar contributed.

The cause is so worthwhile and has such a great reputation for efficient charity that our community always makes its annual goal. But sometimes – such as in this time of economic difficulties – it takes a little “stretch” to get the job done.

The goal this year is to raise $11.8 million. Generous people have assured $11.2 million of that amount will be provided – meaning we quickly need $600,000 more in contributions to achieve this year’s goal.

United Way Campaign Chairman Bill Stacy and his scores of volunteer United Way fellow workers have done an excellent job so far – but need some additional help now to wind up this year’s campaign with success.

Chattanoogans have reasons to be proud of the generosity of our people and the efficient way our community pitches in to meet thousands of real human needs, to give helping hands to our neighbors and to lift the up and coming.

We commend all of the fine Chattanooga givers who have already made generous contributions, and encourage all our citizens of good will to join the effort to assure another United Way success this year.
