East Ridge will host the Dizzy Dean World Series for two age groups this summer, bringing more than 1,000 players to Camp Jordan in July.
Danny Phillips, national commissioner of Dizzy Dean Baseball Inc., said Wednesday that East Ridge submitted the best bid to host the 6-year-olds’ and 11-year-olds’ World Series games. The games will start July 14 at the Camp Jordan fields in East Ridge.
Mr. Phillips said he expects about 85 teams will participate. The series usually lasts about six days. Many of the players are expected to bring their families to the games.
“The people at Camp Jordan and in East Ridge have always done a quality job for Dizzy Dean baseball as long as I’ve been involved in the organization,” Mr. Phillips said.
