Georgia forecast shows freeze unlikely

North Georgia has seen between 2 and 3 inches of rain over the last 24 hours but should not see freezing temperatures over the weekend.

National Weather Service meteorologist Vaughn Smith in Peachtree City, Ga. said forecasts show that rain will stop this afternoon or evening. There may be light snow with no accumulation tonight but temperatures will stay high enough to avoid freezing over the weekend.

The area might see more snow and rain mix on Monday night or Tuesday with a new storm front heading into the region, he said.
