VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Canadian organizers have assured the International Olympic Committee that everything is ready for the start of the Vancouver Games.
Organizing committee leader John Furlong made his final pre-games presentation to the IOC on Thursday, a day before the opening ceremony.
Furlong says, “If it’s ever possible to say that you are ready, we are ready.” He says when the Olympic torch arrives in Vancouver on Thursday night, “life as we know it is going to change.”
He says the Olympic venues have a “magical feel.” He acknowledges there may be protests but adds that is normal for Vancouver and he expects them to be well managed.
