VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – Another country has arrived at the Winter Olympics
The Colbert Nation.
Faux talk show host and speedskating patron Stephen Colbert made his debut at the Vancouver Games on Thursday, taping segments for his show “The Colbert Report” in a most un-winter-like setting: a muddy park along the downtown waterfront on a sunny, unseasonably warm morning.
Thousands turned out to watch Colbert, who took over as the main sponsor for U.S. Speedskating after its previous backer, a Dutch bank, went bust. He conducted interviews with Canadian singer Michael Buble, 1980 U.S. hockey gold medalist Mike Eruzione and NBC host Bob Costas from a temporary stage.
