Blood Assurance is hosting a community blood drive next week to honor Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson, who was diagnosed last year with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
The blood drive will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Oakwood Baptist Church, where Sheriff Wilson is a member.
Sheriff Wilson is now in remission and will undergo a stem cell transplant next month, according to a release from Blood Assurance.
