Denim & Diamonds celebrates 1960s

The fifth annual Denim & Diamonds gala will have guests feeling groovy Saturday. The event, starting at 8 p.m. at The Chattanoogan hotel, will celebrate “The Sensational ’60s” in an informal evening of entertainment, dancing and auctions. The Ascots, an oldies band, will perform.

Proceeds benefit Project Access, a charity providing health care to the working poor and uninsured. The event is organized by the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society, Medical Foundation of Chattanooga and Medical Alliance.

Project Access has provided $50 million in charity health care to the working poor since its inception five and a half years ago. Since the program began, more than 7,000 individuals have been evaluated for eligibility. Each month an average of 500 patients are actively receiving care or finalizing enrollment.

“Project Access is helping people get back on their feet, return to work and obtain their own health insurance,” said Rae Bond, Medical Society and Foundation executive director. “The funds we raise at Denim & Diamonds support this work.”

Individual tickets are $125 per person, with discounts for Medical Society member physicians and house staff residents. Table sponsorships start at $1,000. To purchase, call the Medical Society at 622-2872 or visit www.chattdenim.org.
