There are many things on which Palestinians and Israelis strongly disagree. But there are some things they have in common, religiously and historically. They should have peaceful agreement about them — but don’t.
The Obama administration unfortunately got into it recently by criticizing Israel for designating the “Cave of the Patriarchs” (where Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are buried) and the “Tomb of Rachel” as “heritage sites.” Both are in “Palestinian territory.”
But both Palestinians and Israelis should have respectful, free, peaceful access to them, and other such places, without squabbling. There are many issues on which Israelis and Palestinians have significant differences, but they shouldn’t be in conflict about Bible sites.
