Framed copies of poems by Reda Mansour, consul general of Israel to the Southeastern United States, are on display at the Jewish Cultural Center Gallery through March 12.
Accompanying the poems are the photographs that inspired them — taken from Isfia, The Karmel Center and Karmel Portal, a national park in Israel.
On Tuesday, Ambassador Mansour will be the guest speaker at a dinner at JCC at 6 p.m. He will discuss his poetry and sign copies of his poems for those attending. Reservations are $9 per person and can be made by calling Ann Treadwell at 493-0270 or at atreadwell@jcfgc.com. The ambassador will not address politics or Israel during the program.
A Druze who speaks five languages, he is the first non-Jewish poet in Israel to write exclusively in Hebrew.
“We are fortunate in having the opportunity to peek into the creative spirit of the consul general,” said Ms. Treadwell, director of programs for JCC. “His poems reflect a love of the landscape and people of Israel.”
