With Tennessee taking the court tonight for its first SEC game, Dean Lockwood creates the image of the Lady Vols climbing into the ring.
The UT assistant coach makes opening night against South Carolina at Thompson-Boling Arena sound like fight night.
“What have I learned? How much have I learned?” Lockwood said. “How much better am I now, going through what I went through with these guys kicking my butt and then training like I have for the last six months?”
The colorful reference was to the Lady Vols’ last SEC women’s basketball tour, during which they were floored five times and staggered to a tie for fourth at 9-5, their lowest conference finish in 12 years.
