Faithful School Board service

Serving on the Hamilton County Board of Education is not a “glamorous” elected public service job. But it’s very important.

We are glad that some of our local folks go to the trouble, and sometimes suffer controversy, to run for and bear the resulting burdens if they win. Local schools are certainly important in the lives of our children and our taxpayers.

Two current members of the School Board have decided they won’t seek another term after years of faithful and unselfish service. They are Chairman Kenny Smith and Janice Boydston.

We do not want them to leave their service without our expressing thanks to them for their conscientious work, which should be highly appreciated.

Local public education is the key to success in the lives of thousands of our youngsters. School challenges are many and difficult. We should praise and appreciate all of our School Board members who serve us well. Thanks to Mr. Smith and Mrs. Boydston, and to the other board members who have served faithfully over the years.

And we commend other good citizens who have indicated an interest in running to make our local public school opportunities better.
