The first stages of a UTC online information system have launched, and officials say the end result will allow students to check grades, register for classes, pay bills and look up their academic history anytime, anywhere.
“In the past, students would have to stand in line or wait in line,” said Debbie Parker, associate vice chancellor for business and finance. “Communication will be instantaneous. It is just a better way to do business.”
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will move its online services to the Banner system over the next year to have it fully operational by this fall, officials said.
Banner, developed by Sun-Gard Higher Education, has become standard for state colleges’ online services since the Tennessee Board of Regents signed a $51 million contract in 2004 for the software.
