CALHOUN, Ga. — A local company has acquired the assets and brand of Carousel Carpet Mills, a luxury custom carpet manufacturer, and will begin manufacturing the brand at its plant here.
Robertex Associates is bringing Carousel to Georgia.
“Carousel Carpet has been catering to luxury for a very long time,” said Len Andolino, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Robertex Associates. “Anyone who knows high end specialty carpet knows who Carousel is.”
Mr. Andolino said the mills, now in Ukiah, Calif., will be moved over the next two months.
“The carpet mills will be up and tufting by the beginning of March,” he said. “With all the economic troubling news our industry dealt with recently, this is a good and positive move for our region.”
Gordon County Chamber of Commerce President Jimmy Philips welcomed the news that Robertex is adding the new line.
“We’re excited about the news and look forward to supporting the transition for Robertex Associates with their new mills,” Mr. Philips said.
Mr. Andolino said some new jobs will be created, but it’s too soon to say how many.
“Key personnel will come east to Gordon County from California to train and some may relocate,” he said. “We are still evaluating how many new positions will be needed in Calhoun.
“Our big picture … our vision … is to create the most diverse wool manufacturer.”
Robertex is a continuation of the Rothman family flooring firm that began in 1917, according to the company.
