TAPPAN, N.Y. – Harold Ford Jr. says Democrats should take Republican Scott Brown’s victory in the Massachusetts Senate race as a wakeup call.
Ford is visiting a New York City suburb as he tests the waters for a possible U.S. Senate bid in New York.
The former Democratic congressman from Tennessee met patrons at a diner in Rockland County Thursday.
It’s his first stop of several planned for the suburbs and upstate New York in coming weeks. He is on leave from his Wall Street job as he decides whether to challenge Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (KEHR’-sten JIL’-uh-brand) in the Democratic primary this fall.
Ford spent 10 years in Congress but he is seeking to cast his opponent as the Washington insider. Gillibrand entered Congress in 2007.
