The Hunter Museum of American Art is celebrating Chattanooga bands during its All American Days concerts held every Thursday in July on the museum’s terrace.
“July is the month when we think about America and celebrate our country,” said Adera Causey, curator of education for the Hunter Museum of American Art. “There’s so much going on in American music today that it just seems impossible for us, as an art museum, not to celebrate that part of it – a sister art.”
Each performance begins at 6 p.m. and ends at approximately 8. Visitors can order refreshments at the cash bar that includes items from the café and glasses of wine.
“We’re showcasing the diversity of American music, certainly not a comprehensive list, but we tried to touch a lot of styles,” Causey said. “We’re constantly looking for new ways to engage with American culture and identity. We’re just really excited to present opportunities to share with artists in Chattanooga, of which musicians are certainly a branch.”
Most of the events are free for members of the Hunter Museum and cost $9.95 for nonmembers. Guests riding to the All American Days concert event July 22 on a bicycle with Outdoor Chattanooga will receive free admittance.
As part of the Hunter Museum’s ongoing Thursday night series, Causey said events will range from wine tastings to musical performances throughout the year.
