NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A task force studying the future of the Tennessee State Fairgrounds will hear a report Monday night about how the site could be developed.
Mayor Karl Dean has said he wants to redevelop the fairgrounds because the annual state fair in September and the racetrack on the property aren’t financially viable.
The possibilities include using the site for a park or transportation connections.
The task force will also hear a summary of public feedback about the issue.
The state fair will be held this September, but it will be produced by two companies rather than by the city.
Despite its name, the state fair is a regional fair with most attendees from Nashville and surrounding counties.
