HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Chattanooga third baseman Corey Smith scored the first run of the game and Lookouts relief pitcher Kenley Jansen got the save as the North Division edged the South 3-2 in the Southern League All-Star contest Monday night at Joe Davis Stadium.
The game’s big star was Jacksonville third baseman Matt Dominguez, who went 3-for-4 with two home runs. He homered off Chattanooga’s Jon Huber in the fifth inning and off West Tenn’s Anthony Varvaro in the seventh and singled for the only baserunner Jansen allowed in the ninth. Jansen had one strikeout as the eighth North pitcher.
Smith was 0-for-2 with a walk in the second inning, when the North took a 2-0 lead. The Lookouts’ Trayvon Robinson played some in both left and center field and went 0-for-3.
