Man shot, treated for leg wound

Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting incident at 4701 Oakland Ave. that was reported at 5:30 this morning, according to spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

Memorial Hospital notified police of a shooting victim that came into the emergency room, Sgt. Weary said. When police arrived they were told that 32-year-old Antoine Spivey was being treated for a single gunshot to the leg, Sgt. Weary said. Mr. Spivey was brought into the emergency room by a relative following the shooting, Sgt. Weary said.

Mr. Spivey told police that he was sitting on his porch when he noticed a black male walking back and forth in front of his home. After asking the suspect his name, he said the suspect shot him in the leg, Sgt. Weary said.

Mr. Spivey described the suspect as a black male, about 5-feet5-inches tall and wearing an off-white shirt. Police have not yet established any suspect leads in the case but the investigation is ongoing, Sgt. Weary said.

Mr. Spivey was treated for a not life-threatening injury to his leg, Sgt. Weary said.
