THE NORTH RIVER Rotary, in partnership with the greater Chattanooga and District Rotary Clubs, along with the Chattanooga Lookouts, are sponsoring Pack the Park for Polio on Aug. 2, at AT&T Field, event spokeswoman Laurie Shipley said in a news release. The Lookouts will play the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx.

All proceeds from $4 advanc tickets purchased from participating Rotary clubs will benefit Rotary’s Polio Plus program, said Ms. Shipley.

“Bobby Davis, the newly installed district governor, will throw out the first pitch, and a Rotarian from the Chattanooga Downtown club will sing the national anthem that evening,” she said.

The Lookouts promotion for the evening will be Kids Eat Free. Children under 12 will receive a free hot dog and soft drink.

“We encourage all Chattanooga area families to come out, have fun and support this event,” Mrs. Shipley said. To purchase tickets, contact Dave Sergeant at 320-0384.

GREATER Chattanooga Area American Red Cross youth council members will hold a fish fry Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Red Cross Building on McCallie Avenue. The event will help raise funds for future council activities and support the mission of the Red Cross.

Fish sandwiches will be sold for $4 each, and orders of three or more can be delivered, according to Red Cross marketing manager Debra Welsh. Sandwich orders may be made in advance by calling 432-5922.

“We work hard to represent the Red Cross and make it a real presence in our community,” said youth council member Rachel Leath. “We’ve done things like raise money to support the people in Haiti, and it feels great to make a difference.”

The Red Cross Youth Council is recruiting members for the upcoming school year. High school students between the ages of 13 and 18 may join the council and help with activities like smoke alarm distribution, Red Cross fundraisers and safety and disaster preparedness education, Ms. Welsh said.
