LaFAYETTE: Marsh House preserves history

The Marsh Warthen House is an example of Walker County's dedication to preserving history. Located on Main Street in LaFayette, the house has been acquired by the Walker County Historic Foundation, which has embarked on a dedicated campaign to restore it. Spencer Marsh, a North Carolina native who moved to the area and became a prominent merchant and planter, built the house between 1836 and 1850. The Marsh House is open for regular tours on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 p.m. For more information, call 706-638-5187 or visit www.marshhouseoflafayette.com.
