TVA working with city on parking

As a major employer in downtown Chattanooga, TVA appreciates the city’s efforts to follow through on its commitment to provide additional parking at Chattanooga’s Trade and Convention Center. More than 2,600 people work in TVA’s nearby office complex, and Chattanooga’s commitment to provide additional parking was a key factor in TVA’s decision in 2008 to keep its offices in the downtown area. TVA expects to pay an annual fee or share in the cost and ownership of the facility. Please be assured that TVA is not seeking “free parking” from the city.

Mayor Littlefield is correct when he describes additional parking as a win-win. It will provide parking for downtown employees during business hours and for those visiting the city’s attractions and events on weekends and evenings. All are customers for the restaurants, shops and other local businesses; and all help ensure a stronger future for the downtown area.

We look forward to completing arrangements with the city for additional parking, and we look forward to continuing to be an anchor among Chattanooga’s downtown businesses.
