McKee Foods Corp. has donated $10,000 to the proposed Bradley County Veterans Home.
Larry McDaris, director of the Bradley County Veterans Service Office, said a written request was sent to the company to see if it would donate a penny or two from every product sold in a specific snack food line.
“We weren’t even going to consider doing that,” McKee spokesman Mike Gloekler said, adding that no company would donate a percentage of its revenue.
Gloekler on Monday couldn’t immediately find a record of the donation, but Dan Howell, executive assistant to Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis, wrote in an e-mail last week that the Collegedale-based snack foods industry made the donation in June.
McKee has such a strong record of making charitable donations to local organizations that it was difficult to track down and confirm the recent $10,000 donation, Gloekler said.
