One of the many wonderful things about Chattanooga is how our outstanding citizens engage in so many constructive and successful endeavors — and how our community honors them for their unselfish service and achievements.
Now good citizen Grady Williams has been honored by selection as “Manager of the Year.”
A certified public accountant in the firm of Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, Mr. Williams has earned a reputation of excellence in his profession. But he also has found time for an amazing number of civic contributions of great benefit to us all.
A former Army infantry paratrooper captain, Mr. Williams has been campaign chairman of the United Way, president of the Downtown Rotary Club, president of the Tennessee Society of Public Accountants and a member of the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy.
A fine Christian gentleman and elder at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, Mr. Williams also has served the University of Chattanooga Foundation, the Chattanooga State Technical Community College Foundation and the advisory board of the School of Business at Tennessee Technological University.
Just a few of his other civic contributions have involved leadership of the American Heart Walk of the American Heart Association, Allied Arts, American Diabetes Society, Chattanooga Little Theatre, Community Research Council, Fortwood Center, Manker Patten Tennis Club, Mountain City Club, Leadership Fund Raiser of the Year of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives, plus others.
It’s no wonder, therefore, that he has received the Distinguished Service Award of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, too.
Mr. Williams is a “fireball” who doesn’t act like it, having a humble manner, and being a fine husband, good citizen and admirable neighbor.
He has honored our community, and so he is justly honored.
