Rachel Stoker and her boyfriend played golf just about every Sunday morning at Hickory Valley Golf Course.
One Sunday morning – she remembers that rain threatened the round and it was the first time her daughter had her own clubs – Stoker found a wonderful surprise in the pocket where she usually kept her tees.
It was a little black box. And inside was the shiny engagement ring Dwayne Stoker placed there the night before.
“He almost backed out because it was supposed to rain,” Rachel said. “When I got to the first tee, I pulled the ring out and dropped it back in and I was like, ‘What’s that?’
“I don’t remember my score at all.”
