Library exhibit highlights Tennessee disasters

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Accounts and pictures from Tennessee’s biggest disasters, including the Yellow Fever epidemic and a 1918 deadly Nashville train wreck, are on display at the Tennessee State Library and Archives building in Nashville.

The exhibit, which runs through October, chronicles calamities across the state from the New Madrid earthquakes in West Tennessee to the Fraterville Mine disaster of 1902.

Secretary of State Tre Hargett said in a news release that while Tennessee has seen its share of disasters, the exhibit also “highlights the courage and strength many people who have lived in this state have shown in the face of adversity.”
