Exum Gallery showcases photography and printmaking

“Smith/Cleary: Photography and Printmaking” is on display in the Exum Gallery at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church through Aug. 1.

Ms. Smith discovered her love of photography while enrolled at the University of Mississippi. During a trip to New York City just one month ater the terrorist attacks in September 2001, she created some powerful images of the city. These served to increase her love of the medium of photogoraphy. She continues to travel extensively — allowing her pictures to tell stories of nature, architecture and people.

Ms. Cleary has attended classes at Tufts University, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and is currently studying at Savannah College of Art and Design. Although she has focused on painting and drawing in the past, her portion of the show is composed of the complex and time-consuming medium of printmaking.

Exum Gallery, 305 Pine St., is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 266-8195.
