Collegedale: Building flooded, no injuries

Water flooded Collegedale businesses and residential units Wednesday afternoon after a pipe from a water sprinkler system burst inside brand-new condos.

A 911 call reported heavy water pouring from the ceilings of Joe Farrar Engineering Co. and Piece of Cake bakery, located at 9298 Apison Pike, according to Hamilton County Emergency Services spokeswoman Amy Maxwell.

No injuries were reported.

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed water coming from the unoccupied condominiums, pouring all over the floor and seeping through the ceilings of two businesses below, Ms. Maxwell said.

McKee Foods was first thought to be flooded as well, but that was “totally false,” Ms. Maxwell said. The facility is functioning normally, she said.

Damages to the condominiums and businesses are undetermined and will be investigated by Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, officials said.
