Soddy-Daisy coach Clifford Kirk suffered his worst loss of the 2010 softball season Tuesday.
Kirk guided the Lady Trojans to the TSSAA Class AAA state championship and top-five rankings in two national polls. His Soddy-Daisy team won 52 of 54 games in the spring and both losses were by a run each, but Georgia defeated his Tennessee team 5-0 at Frost Stadium in the first game of the Tennessee-Georgia High School All-Star doubleheader at Jim Frost Stadium.
Tennessee won the second game 12-2 in five innings.
“Payton (Leech) did OK until she got tired,” Kirk said of Tennessee’s starting pitcher from GPS. “We had all kinds of baserunners but couldn’t score. At least we split. You’d like to win both, but you get what you can get out of them.”
Victories have been difficult to attain for Georgia in the series that started in 1998 and became a doubleheader in 2002. Georgia’s victory Tuesday was its third in 22 games.
