Gen. Petraeus to discuss wars at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gen. David Petraeus, who oversees the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, will speak at Vanderbilt University about the surge in Iraq and answer questions from the public.

The discussion on Monday evening will be led by Mike Newton, a Vanderbilt professor of the practice of law who has worked as an international legal adviser to the Iraqis. The general will also answer submitted questions from the audience.

Petraeus took over as head of U.S. Central Command in October 2008 after executing the troop surge in Iraq in 2007.

Tickets to the free public event are no longer available, but the university is streaming the discussion online.
