Police found another pellet gun inside another middle school today.
At about 1 p.m., a school resource officer responded to East Ridge Middle School after police were told there was a gun on campus.
Earlier in the day a teacher told an administrator that a student had a gun. While searching the 14-year-old male’s locker, administrators found the pellet gun, according to East Ridge Police spokesman Erik Hopkins.
The SRO took the student into custody and then had him transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. He has been charged with possession of a weapon on school property.
“It apparently stemmed from an incident that occurred off campus on Friday, and was a self -defense thing,” Officer Hopkins said of why the youth brought a gun to school.
Officer Hopkins said he did not know if pellets were loaded in the gun.
Police recovered both weapons and drugs last week at Dalewood and Orchard Knob middle schools.
