Two suspects in the robbery of a Walgreens pharmacy in Fort Oglethorpe were arrested in Hamilton County after a chase in which shots were fired at deputies, according to a news release.
Alex Sauseda, 29, and Jaime Patton-Steele, 27, were taken to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with theft over $1,000 and three counts of felony possession of a controlled substance for resale, according to Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.
Mr. Sauseda also was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, while Ms. Patton-Steele also was charged with being an accessory after the fact.
Both have other charges pending as well as holds placed by law enforcement authorities from Georgia and South Carolina, she said.
The robbery took place about 7:15 p.m. Monday, Ms. Atkinson said.
Catoosa County sheriff’s deputies spotted the suspects’ Toyota Camry on Deitz Road and tried to stop it, she said, but the driver got onto Interstate 75 and headed north.
The deputies chased the vehicle onto the interstate and the hunt continued into Tennessee and onto Highway 58, she said.
During the chase, one suspect fired two shots at the deputies, she said.
The suspects finally were detained after Hamilton County sheriff’s deputies used spike strips to stop the car on Jewell Road.
