McMinn Central leads at halftime

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Despite its leading scorer and rebounder, 6-foot-2 junior post Jenna Adams, missing more than 10 minutes of the first half with foul trouble, top-ranked McMinn Central leads Greeneville, 29-22, at halftime of their Class AA state tournament quarterfinal.

Adams scored the team’s first points on a pair of free throws but was held scoreless the rest of the half. She sat out the final 3:34 of the first quarter with two fouls then was called for her third 20 seconds into the second quarter.

Senior guard Madison Lee has picked up the scoring slack with 15 points, including 13 of the Chargerettes’ 17 first-quarter points. She sparked an 11-2 run to end the first quarter, and her jumper with 1:39 remaining in the half put McMinn Central up by 10.

The winner of the game will play eighth-ranked Westview Friday at 3:30 (Eastern) in the semifinals. Westview defeated Lewis County 57-47 earlier today.
