Nolan Elementary principal Ken Barker announced this week on the school’s Web site that he will retire at the end of the year.
Mr. Barker has been an educator for 40 years, including 26 as a principal – 17 of them on Signal Mountain. He has served as principal of Nolan for 11 years.
In his most recent online newsletter, the longtime principal thanked the school community for its support.
“I can’t express the joy I have had to establish with our staff and parents the fine tradition of excellence for which we have become known! I am extremely grateful for the support I have enjoyed here at Nolan these past 11 years,” he wrote.
I wish everyone the best, and I will keep you informed on the process for naming a new principal as that unfolds,” he wrote.
