On the menu: Outback Steakhouse

* Where: Outback Steakhouse, 2120 Hamilton Place Blvd. and 501 Northgate Mall.

* What: The Outback Special is a signature sirloin seasoned with the steakhouse’s bold spices. You name the degree of doneness, and it will be seared to perfection. This month, it’s featured on the Red, White and Bloomin’ menu, which supports Operation Homefront. The goal is to raise $1 million, according to managing partner Chris Winter. The steak, with its blend of 17 seasonings, is paired with Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie and a loaded baked potato for an excellent price — just $1 more than any other steak on the menu, but with more extras. It’s a surf-and-turf experience that’s easy on your pocketbook and still supports a good cause.

* Price (through March 31): 10.95 (6-ounce), $14.95 (9-ounce), $17.95 (12-ounce).

* Phone: 899-2600 (Hamilton Place), 870-0980 (Northgate).

* Hours: 4-10:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 4-11:30 p.m. Friday; 1-11:30 p.m. Saturday; noon-10:30 p.m. Sunday (9 p.m. at Northgate).
