Alter Constitution to make all equal
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress.
We do not have an elite that is above the law. The self-serving must stop. This should be retroactive as well.
Here is a proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.”
Take heed, Sen. Bob Corker and Rep. Zach Wamp. Why not introduce this amendment to Congress and show the people that you truly serve them and not just yourself and the special-interest money.

Time to recognize worth of Howard
Howard School is the oldest public school in the state and it would be heralded and highly preserved if it were an “all white” populated school.
Howard High School is the only school of the old city system and now Hamilton County that has never been desegregated, and there is no move to change its status. There have been continuous efforts to make it unappealing by majority white boards since the court case was closed. These majority school boards members have deliberately and consistently made it the least tenured faculty and have not hired sufficient black faculty. It has shifted principals to ensure that programs of progress cannot be sustained. It has ignored cultural factors in teacher placement and this denies interaction of faculty with families in churches and other neighborhood settings.
Has neglect of this school had only one purpose and that is to secure the land that comprises its campus?
Hasn’t the time come for a change of attitudes on the part of the white community and for a recognition of the worth of Howard students?

Quotation marks are inappropriate
What’s with your editorial writer’s runaway use of quotation marks? I’m not a grammar policeman, but this is so flagrant a “third grade” student would take “offense.”
Stylebooks and even the most basic books on grammar do not allow the use of quotation marks for emphasis. Quotes may be used, however, if the writer is using the word sarcastically. An example would be as follows: The accused molester insisted she was only taking “good care” of her student.
The Chattanooga Free Press editorial to which I refer stated as follows: No one is really a “front-runner” yet. Who will “emerge?” He or she had better “show up” soon!
Huh?

Pray for best, prepare for worst
The U.S has enemies who will do to us whatever they can get away with, and the U.S. must have public safety as highest priority.
Since May 2009 ,federal agents have stopped five terror plots to kill Americans on American soil.
There’s increasing threat of terrorism, and families are unprepared. Experts say terrorism isn’t a matter of if, but when!
Experts say families should keep their fuel tank full, have a pre-planned meeting place, flashlights, batteries, first-aid kit, duct tape, plastic sheeting and a two-week supply of water and canned or non-perishable food and non-electric can opener.
Terrorists may shut down all electric power.
Proverbs 30 praises ants as “extremely wise” for storing up many months of food. The Bible says to prepare for the future. Leviticus 26 tells us what to expect in the future for countries like America that disobey God. God will allow sudden terror, diseases and food shortages, etc. If they continue to disobey he will give them seven times more troubles.
Proverbs twice says, “a wise man forseeth evil and hideth himself; but the simple pass on and are punished.” Christians, pray for the best but prepare for the worst!

Enough already about health bill
All we read about, hear about, is the new health care bill, something the American public does not want.
What happened to jobs, economy and the national debt?

You must know English for signs
I think the driver’s license test should be only in English, because if drivers can’t read that, how are they going to read road signs.

If you disagree, do so sensibly
OK, so Glen Beck is making progressives out to be demon socialists. And he claims that he didn’t learn about the evils of socialism in college; he discovered these terrible truths in a library. A public library. You know, your typical public library gets its funding from, gasp(!), the government. It just doesn’t make sense.
Now ol’ Rush says that if the health care bill is passed he’s moving to Costa Rica. He hates the bill because he feels it will lead to a government takeover of health care. So he’ll move to Costa Rica, where health care is run by the government. It just doesn’t make sense.
People, I’m a progressive and I don’t mind if you disagree with me. But, please, when you do disagree with me make some sense.
