A new event Saturday will raise money and awareness for melanoma cancer research.
The Spring Festival will feature a family atmosphere with music by gospel groups and other entertainers throughout the day, food vendors, children’s activities, and arts and crafts vendors displaying and selling their wares. Civic groups, businesses and nonprofits will offer information. A silent auction will take place throughout the day, and a live auction will start at 4:30 p.m.
All proceeds go to the Elizabeth Roberta Smith Memorial Fund for Melanoma Cancer Research. Smith, of McDonald, Tenn., died May 10, 2009, following a brief illness. She and her husband, Donald, were co-owners of Sun and Shade Garden Center in Lookout Valley for 30 years.
The event will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m., rain or shine, at John A. Patten Recreation Center, 3202 Kelly’s Ferry Road. Lawn chairs are recommended.
