Two area libraries schedule genealogy classes

If the new NBC series “Who Do You Think You Are?” has sparked an interest in tracing your ancestry, your local library can help you get started.

Two libraries in the area are offering workshops in March and April on how to begin your search.

* Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library: Mary Helms, head of the Local History and Genealogy Department, is leading a series of beginning genealogy workshops.

The library offers Ancestry Library Edition, HeritageQuest Online, Footnote, NewEnglandAncestors.org and Sanborn Maps for library patrons. The use of these and other genealogical databases will be covered in the workshops.

Remaining dates are Saturday at the downtown branch, 1001 Broad St. (757-5317) and March 27 at the Eastgate Branch (855-2685). Sessions meet from 10 a.m. to noon.
