TRENTON, Ga. – Retiring principal Billy Millican spent 31 of his 32 years as an educator at Dade County High School, but he’s not done working, he says.
“I haven’t missed much here over the course of the years,” said Mr. Millican, who’s been a science teacher, coach, central office administrator and, lastly, principal.
“Even though I’ve stayed in one system, I’ve worn a lot of hats here,” he said. The second-year principal has several teaching certifications that include science education for kindergarten through college, health and physical education, and technical subjects.
“I could just about have my own school,” he laughed. “I’m somewhat of a geek.”
But Mr. Millican, who’ll be replaced at the end of the school year by administrator of high school improvement Josh Ingle, has no plans to kick back on the porch.
