RANGER, GA – Vowing to be a bold, clear voice for immigration reform, leading conservative candidate Tom Graves (R-Ranger) called on Washington to secure the borders and enforce the laws already on the books.
“No one can deny that the federal government has failed when it comes to enforcing our illegal immigration laws,” said Graves. “What we need is a reform that does not grant amnesty-which laughs in the face of our legal system. We need to get serious about defending our borders with a strong presence and we need to enforce the laws already on the books.”
While in the Georgia House, Graves was a key leader in drafting the final language to what is now known as one of the strongest illegal immigration policies in the Nation, the Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act.
Graves has pledged to do the same when in Washington.
“Immigration reform requires an active, proven bold voice in Washington. This is no Washington,” said Graves.
“Equipping the Border Patrol with any and all tools necessary to seal and defend our borders and enforce our current laws are the first steps,” said Graves. “We must stand strong against those who seek to enter our country illegally, restrict government benefits for illegal aliens and never allow any form of amnesty. We have an obligation to protect our borders and ensure the safety of our citizens. When it comes to combating illegal immigration, we must have a proven voice in Washington.”
Graves represented the 12th House District from 2003 until March 23, 2010. Graves announced last May that he would seek the 9th District Congressional seat that was vacated by Congressman Nathan Deal, who is running for Governor.
